A summer project by Oregon State University students was the planning and execution of a ‘Firefox’ crop circle; we think that it was pretty successful.
The project was first planned on paper and executed via various methods; actual manual building with overhead project management from high ladders and airplanes.
Tanja Askani posts her photographs online at fotocommunity.de. She’s now captured the most moving different-species animal friends - a deer and a rabbit - who seem to LOVE each other’s company. Some of us have seen similar friendship bonds between different animals (no, we are NOT talking about human to dog or human to cat).
Below, you’ll see other animals that love each other in a common compound. We’ve seen dogs and cats as best friends who must spend the night snuggled together, right?
Tanja is one of a kind certainly, because if you view her portfolio, you begin to realise that she not only loves photography, she LOVES animals, and some of the kind which we fear, such as white wolves.
About Tanja Askani:
Tanja Askani is Czech author and animal scientist who lives with her husband at a game park in Germany. Originally, they had established a falconry at the park, bred raptors, and presented bird shows with their birds of prey.
Then her husband brought her an orphaned three-day-old wolf pup and Askani’s was introduced into lupine life. The orphan wolf, ‘Flocke’ , meaning ‘Snowflake’ in German, was weak and required intensive care given by Askani and her dog, Snowflake eventually lived.
The bond between Askani and Sonwflake has survived its return to the game park and Snowflake’s mating with another hand-reared wolf. Eventually, a third, younger male wolf was added later and eventually all three wolves treated the humans like auxiliary wolves.
Barbara Hoffert, Library Journal, Nov 2006:
“This is not a scientific treatise but a warm and carefully observed portrait of one woman’s efforts to change our perceptions of the sadly reviled wolf. The numerous photographs–close up, striking, and informative–will make animal lovers weak in the knees.”
Nancy Bent, Booklist, Oct 2006:
“. . . the charming, diary-like writing style and the plethora of color close-ups of the wolves will enchant wolf-lovers.” “. . . great insight into the world of the wolf. . . . the charming, diary-like writing style and the plethora of color close-ups of the wolves will enchant wolf lovers.”
Here’s a good one; a man trying to sell a ‘loving cat’ whilst filming ‘the introduction to the loving cat’ on video gets bitten during filming; unfortunately the cat went ‘wild’ and bit him:
TAKE 1: Pinky the cat is introduced as ‘ a very loving cat’
TAKE 2: Pinky bites down hard after a cat fight to get away from being ‘adopted’ as a ‘loving cat’
The Great Barrier Reef could be dead in 20 years unless there is a drastic reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, a marine biology expert in Australia said in early April.
Rising sea temperatures were bleaching the coral and causing it to die, said Professor Ove Hoegh-Guldberg of the Australian Research Council Centre for Excellence for Coral Reef Studies.
At the same time, increasing levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere were turning the world’s oceans more acidic and preventing corals from forming their limestone skeletons, he said. Prof Hoegh-Guldberg and Professor Terry Hughes provided expert advice to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). The IPCC Fourth Assessment Report was delayed due to objections from China, the US and Saudi Arabia.
According to Peter Tremblay of the Canadian National Newspapers, rumors have persisted for years that astronauts may have seen something more on the Moon than just rocks and dust.
According to transcripts of the technical debriefing following the Apollo 11 mission, astronauts Armstrong, Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin and Michael Collins told of an encounter with a large cylindrical UFO even before reaching the Moon,” U.S. investigative journalist and researcher Jim Marrs documents Mr. Aldrin further officially presented his encounters with apparent Extraterrestrials on CNN’s Larry King Show.
“I believe that these extraterrestrial vehicles and their crews are visiting this planet from other planets, which obviously are a little more technically advanced than we are here on Earth,” he told a United Nations panel in 1985.
“I feel that we need to have a top-level, coordinated program to scientifically collect and analyze data from all over the Earth concerning any type of encounter, and to determine how best to interface with these visitors in a friendly fashion.”
He added, “For many years I have lived with a secret, in a secrecy imposed on all specialists and astronauts. I can now reveal that every day, in the USA, our radar instruments capture objects of form and composition unknown to us.”
In Cooper’s book, written with Bruce Henderson, he relates how he saw his first UFO over Europe in 1951 as an Air Force pilot in West Germany. There, Cooper and his squadron mates were scrambled in their F-86 Sabre jets to intercept what appeared to be several metallic silver and saucer-shaped craft.
Cooper also described an incident at Edwards Air Force Base, California, in which he once looked at film of a crashed UFO in the American Southwest taken in the late 1950s. That film, he writes, was whisked away to the Pentagon never to be seen or heard of again.
Throughout the book, the former astronaut argued for the government to open up its files and come clean about alien visitations and had once testified before the United Nations in 1978 on the topic hoping that the U.N. would become a central repository for accounts of UFO sightings.
“I made the effort to get the U.N. to pick up the ball,” Cooper said at the book signing. “They thought it was a great idea, but they never did anything about it.”
Astronaut Edgar Mitchell - Mitchell has publicly expressed his opinions that he is
“90 per cent sure that many of the thousands of unidentified flying objects, or UFOs, recorded since the 1940s, belong to visitors from other planets” and that UFOs have been the “subject of disinformation in order to deflect attention and to create confusion so the truth doesn’t come out.”
Edgar Mitchell’s interests include consciousness and paranormal phenomena. While on the Moon, he is reputed to have conducted private ESP experiments with his friends on Earth. In early 1973, he founded the Institute of Noetic Sciences. The aim of the nonprofit Institute is to conduct and sponsor research into areas that mainstream science has ignored, including psychic events. As well as writing academic journals, Mitchell has published Psychic Exploration (ISBN 0-399-11342-8) and the audio-book The Way of the Explorer (ISBN 1-57270-019-X). He is currently the Advisory Board Chairman of the Institute for Cooperation in Space, co-founded by Dr. Carol Rosin.
About Dr. Carol Rosin: Dr. Carol Sue Rosin was born on March 29, 1944 in Wilmington, Delaware and is an award-winning educator, author, leading aerospace executive and space and missile defense consultant. She is a former spokesperson for Wernher von Braun and has consulted to a number of companies, organizations, government departments and the intelligence community. She is the current President of the Institute for Cooperation in Space (ICIS) which she co-founded with Alfred Webre. Dr. Rosin has received the support of various prominent individuals such as U.S. Congressman Dennis Kucinich, and Hon. Paul Hellyer, a former Canadian Minister of National Defence. She is also a witness for The Disclosure Project.
Dr. Rosin was the first woman to hold the position of Corporate Manager at Fairchild Industries from 1974 through 1977, where she met the late Dr. Wernher von Braun in early 1974 when von Braun was dying of cancer. According to Rosin’s accounts, Von Braun spent the last years of his life explaining to her his position that space-based weapons are dangerous, destabilizing, too costly, unnecessary, and unworkable, and explaining the available alternatives. He asked Dr. Rosin to be his spokesperson and to appear on occasions when he was too ill to speak. According to Rosin, he also asked her to take on the challenge of promoting the ban of space weapons by educating decision makers and the grassroots about transforming the military industrial complex into a peaceful space exploration industry.
According to Rosin, von Braun also spoke of the existence of “off planet cultures” (extraterrestrials) and government conspiracies to keep the existence of them a secret.
About Wernher von Braun: Dr. Wernher Magnus Maximilian Freiherr von Braun (March 23, 1912 – June 16, 1977) was one of the leading figures in the development of rocket technology in Germany and the United States.
The German scientist, who was pivotal in Germany’s pre-war rocket development program and was responsible for the design and realization of the V-2 combat rocket during World War II, entered the United States at the end of the war through the then-secret Operation Paperclip. Although he had held the honorary SS rank of a Sturmbannführer, he became a naturalized U.S. citizen and worked on the American ICBM program before joining NASA, where he served as director of NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center and the chief architect of the Saturn V launch vehicle, the superbooster that propelled the United States to the Moon. He is generally regarded as the father of the United States space program. Wernher von Braun received the 1975 National Medal of Science.
Despite all the quotes and evidence above, it comes to mind that out of numerous astronauts who have worked for the US government on NASA space flights, only the few above and maybe two others, if so many, have spoken in public about their belief in the existence of UFOs and extraterrestrial life. If we do find any more information, we’ll certainly let our readers know.
The search for billionaire adventurer, Steve Fossett, has not only widened in its scope but it looks like hope in finding the missing airman is fading just as fast. Recently inducted this year into the National Aviation Hall of Fame in Dayton, Ohio, Fossett went missing in his blue and white single-engine Bellanca Super Decathlon plane 14 days ago. The mystery widens as to how Fossett seemed to have just vanished into thin air; taking into consideration that searchers have since found at least eight other wrecked planes, some decades old, that there is a huge amount of support from volunteer searchers, even what seems to be hundreds of individual volunteer persons using Google Earth and Amazon Mechanical Turk and the fact that his electronic location beacon did not go off.
Theories emerged that Fossett may have pulled a ‘disappearing act’ with intent until that idea was ruled out eventually about a week ago. The search for Fossett’s plane widened to include the rugged eastern Sierra Nevada, including the sun-scorched Black Rock Desert. It is also taking in the inky blue depths of Walker Lake, which separates Nevada and California. Tim Evinger, sheriff of Klamath County, Ore., and his dive team have provided support for the underwater search of Walker Lake.
The aircraft’s last confirmed position on Monday (3 September) at approximately 10:30 A.M. local time showed Steve west of Powell Canyon (south of Walker Lake and southwest of Hawthorne), proceeding east towards the canyon. This location is less than 30 miles SE from his point of departure / expected arrival. Steve was expected to return to the ranch around 11:00 - 11:30 AM.
The search team comprises Civil Air Patrol (CAP) aircraft from Minden, Nevada and Bishop, California, many of them volunteers; the Air National Guard from Reno; Army National Guard helicopters and private aircraft (8 helicopters and 5 fixed wing) based at the Flying M Ranch scouring the high desert and mountainous terrain for signs of Steve’s Decathlon plane or a crash site.
The terrain as described by Gail Mizner, a self-employed electrical consultant from Bakersfield, has “some of the roughest mountains in the United States.” The CAP web site said as of last Thursday, volunteers had flown 345 flights, totaling more than 1,000 flight hours in search of Fossett. Patrol members from Nevada, Utah, California, Idaho, Oregon and Colorado have taken part. Fossett is being sought by air, water and also with foot patrols. Each flight that takes off carries at least one pilot and two searchers with binoculars.
The Nevada terrain itself places flights at risk due to strong gusts of winds. Because Fossett filed no flight itinerary as it was impractical to do so since he was on a search for terrain to run yet another record - namely to break the land-speed record in a jet-powered race car, the search has proven particularly difficult. Ross Aimer, CEO of Aviation Experts, a San Clemente, California-based aviation consulting firm has said:
“This is kind of strange because these aircrafts have transponders and emergency locators and you can usually readily find them anywhere in the world, including under the sea, …. This guy is totally lost…. So far, nobody’s heard the electronic location beacon,” said Aimer, who has flown the region several times. “That sounds to me very, very strange. There’s all kinds of possibilities.”
Fossett’s now seemingly mysterious disappearance has spawned rampant speculation on the internet about possible conspiracies and government involvement, fueled in part by CNN journalist Miles O’Brien’s on-air comments last week that Fossett may have wandered into restricted airspace in the military’s top-secret Area 51 or Nellis Air Force Base. Maj. Cynthia S. Ryan, spokeswoman for the Civil Air Patrol Nevada Wing, called such notions “laughable” as she reasoned that both sites are more than 300 miles from the 50 mile search area and that:
..”such disappearances aren’t unheard of in these parts, … the region’s mountains are “full of plane wreckage that nobody’s ever found”.
Fossett broke the record for the fastest nonstop global flight in 2005 as well as over 115 speed or distance records on land, air, and water. He is described as so tenuous and resilient that many are convinced that he would have been able to light a fire without instruments or equipment, dig water from dry river beds, use cactus to find drinking water and walk many miles if he had survived a crash or emergency landing. The many who believed that he would make it are now becoming less confident in the hopes of finding him alive. Noticeably, Fossett did not send out any emergency message during his fated flight or if he crash landed safely; this leads many to fear the worst.

CLTV Oak Brook Interview with ‘John” the Chicago Tribune
“John” from the Chicago Tribune appears on CLTV to give an interview of the Chicago O’Hare Airport UFO incident which hit the news world wide on New Year’s Day 2007.
A large UFO was reported to have floated 1500 feet over a gate at the Chicago O’Hare airport over Gate C17 United Airlines earlier this year to the astonishment of many on the ground. The incident had apparently happened on November 7th 2006 but was kept under-cover until persons demanded information from the airport authorities via a Freedom of Information Act (FIA) request.
It was only after United Airlines and the airports were forced to give official comments via the FIA, was the incident admitted to have occurred.
Witnessed by airline pilots, technical persons on the ground, passengers and many others; some who were either emotionally stricken by the experience or extremely elated, the Chicago O’Hare incident remains one of the most incredible and memorable UFO witness evidence which occurred in the most recent annals of UFO history.
Buzz Aldrin talking about the Apollo 11 UFO (1 of 2)
Astronaut Edwin “Buzz” during the Aldrin Larry King Live Interview regarding the crew’s strange sighting of a UFO during the Apollo 11 mission (1 of 2) .
In the documentary “Apollo 11: The Untold Story,” shown on Britain’s Channel Five on Monday night, July 24, astronaut Buzz Aldrin says he, Neil Armstrong and Michael Collins all saw a UFO shadowing their spacecraft. Apollo 11, which took off on July 16, 1969, was the first manned mission to the moon. Aldrin says, “There was something out there, close enough to be observed, and what could it be?”
Now, obviously the three of us weren’t going to blurt out, ‘Hey, Houston, we’ve got something moving alongside of us and we don’t know what it is,’ you know? We weren’t about to do that, because we knew that that those transmissions would be heard by all sorts of people and somebody might have demanded we turn back because of aliens or whatever the reason is.” He says NASA knew about the UFO but covered up the information.
Buzz Aldrin talking about the Apollo 11 UFO (2 of 2)
Buzz Aldrin talking about the Apollo 11 UFO (2 of 2)
The Larry Ling Live interview goes on and Buzz Aldrin obviously is avoiding all talk of UFOs; he is trying his best to avoid the topic completely.
Some have speculated that he did not expect the publicity and having had already said what he did on previous occasions, the interview seemed to center around him having to repeat the words he’d said in earlier times; perhaps a surprise to him and an unpleasant recall of his seniority where state secrets are concerned.
Yet others speculate that Buzz is a fake, put there and paid for by the government - this seems highly unlikely since it is obvious that he wants to avoid the topic at all costs.
